Arrival in Wroclaw – the capital of Lower Silesia. Your hotel is situated in the centre of the town. After you have found your room, there is time for a preliminary stroll through Wroclaw and first impressions of the old town centre and its night life. Wroclaw was chosen as a start point of our program because individuals can easily arrive here by bus, train or plane. However we do not plan a longer city tour in Wroclaw. If you want you can extend your stay after the cycling tour. |

Through Silesian landscape we go by bus towards the Polish-Czech border, to the “3 countries” monument in Czermna/Grenzeck. On the way you can admire impressive views on the local landscape of tableland. In Czermna/Grenzeck we visit the scull-chapel from 18th century, where you can get the impression of 30-year war. From this place we start cycling through the green cirque of Klodzko with its famous Silesian resorts and partly through the Stolowe Mountains National Park. We cycle downhill to Kudowa Zdroj – one of the oldest and most famous resorts in Sudetenland, with its 19 century atmosphere. From Kudowa Zdroj we ride to Polanica Zdroj passing Duszniki Zdroj – a small resort famous of its springs and Chopin Festival. After the cycling you can relax in a comfortable hotel or take a walk in Polanica’s park lanes. |

We ride to Kłodzko through the valley of Nysa Klodzka. Klodzko is the industrial and cultural capital of this region. It is also famous because of its picturesque location, architecture, 18 century fortification and baroque stone-bridge that is often compared with Charles Bridge in Prague. Leaving Klodzko we enter again a romantic landscape of forests, fields and villages. Riding along the Nysa Klodzka gorge we go to Bardo – a popular centre of pilgrimage, one of the most important St. Mary sanctuaries in Silesia. Next we go to the castle in Krzemieniec Zabkowicki, which was designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkels. We follow Nysa Klodzka River and we ride to Paczkow – Polish Carcassonne, where we stay overnight. |

We say goodbye to Polish castles and we pass the border. In Czech Republic we visit another castle in Javornik. The 13 century castle was rebuilt in baroque style and used to be a centre of Silesian music life. We cycle from Javorink along the border line leaving behind beautiful Czech villages. The way leads also through forests and grassland, where you can admire romantic ruins and charming chapels. Next we pass the border again and go to the center of The Opava Mountains Landscape Park, to our hotel in Glucholazy with beautiful renaissance and baroque Main Square. The cycle path in valley leads to the old gold mine. |

Today we ride through forests and fields towards the Czech Republic. On our way we pass stone circles that used to mark the way of pilgrimage. The local forests hide a lot of historic monuments like the statue of romantic German poet Joseph Freiherr von Eichendorff. Next we leave behind small villages and enter into the forest again. In the middle of this forest we encounter the ruins of a church and an old cemetery. You can get the impression that time stood still here. However another attraction is waiting for us. We ride along Opava River to our hotel in Krnov. This town is situated in a place where Opavica River falls into Opava River. Krnov is famous because of its past. It used to be a seat of the Principality of Krnov. In the old town dominates modernistic architecture. In this place we stay overnight. In Krnov we recommend you a small tour to Cvilin – another pilgrimage center, where you can admire the view from an observation tower. |
| |
We cycle from Krnov in the south-east direction, towards the hills with a baroque pilgrimage church. Next stage of our tour we go downhill through Opava River. Later we pass an interesting fortification and bunkers from the 1930-ies. However during the Second World War Germans have taken control over these buildings without a single gun shot. The highlight of the day is Opava, where we stay for a while to visit the town. It is the historic capital of Czech Silesia. In the evening we stay in our hotel in Hradec nad Moravici. Here you can relax in the swimming pool, sauna, and fitness centre. Also the local renaissance palace is worth seeing. Such composers like: Beethoven, Paganini and Wagner used to be the guests of the local duke. |
