The Trisuli is Nepal's most popular white-water rafting river for many reasons. It’s excellent for either 1, 2 or 3 days – this is a two-day trip - it has easy access from Kathmandu and/or Pokhara and is perfect for confident beginners and those that have rafted once or twice before. It combines ideally with a trip to Chitwan National Park - only a 1½ hour bus ride away from the take-out point, or a stay in the hilltop town of Bandipur. With mellow, relaxing stretches of river winding through gorges with spectacular scenery including many small local villages and thrilling white-water it’s easy to see its appeal.

The Trisuli Centre

Drive to put in point; briefing and raft to The Trisuli Centre.

All set with your gear and raring to go, you’ll depart Kathmandu and drive along the scenic Pokhara road and soon catch sight of the Trisuli. After an hour you’ll find yourself at the put-in point at Baireni where your crew awaits you.

After unloading it’s down to the river to find your raft, a safety boat and rescue kayaks all prepped and ready to give you the thrill of a lifetime. A careful briefing follows taking you through the nuances of white-water rafting – demonstrations of throw-line and flip-line use, adjustment of helmets, life jackets, etc. followed by a few practice paddles.

After a short raft we pause for lunch by the river on one of the picturesque sandy beaches. Before there is any drop in the excitement barometer, we take to the river again and continue rafting, negotiating fearsome but exciting rapids like ‘Teen Devi’ and ‘Monkey’ (mostly Grade III rapids).

You raft and float down to the confluence of the Trisuli and Budi Gandaki and then little further to The Trisuli Centre, close to a delightful little village just close to the main road link to Kathmandu. The locals are ever so willing to mingle with you and show to you their youth centre that they take so much pride in. Or simply, relax, pondering the currents you've to tame tomorrow or just simply roam around soaking in the serenity of the 'Garden of Streams'.

Optional Activities	Why not add on a trip down to Chitwan National Park for elephant-back rhino safaris or to the little hill town of Bandipur for Himalayan views and easy rambles to local villages. Both are easily added to this rafting trip – just contact us to discuss your needs.
What To Bring	Clothing should be light-weight, dry quickly, and provide insulation even when wet. Synthetic fibres are preferable to cotton on the river for this reason. You’ll need, lightweight pants and jacket, long sleeved thermal top and bottoms (long underwear), polypropylene or polypro mix socks, light weight long sleeved shirt, a fleece jacket and maybe a rain jacket. Bring toiletries, spare glasses or contact lenses. River sandals are the preferred footwear on the river. It is essential that all rafters have footwear that they can wear in the raft, which will not come off in the event of a swim, as this is considered standard safety equipment. Good quality, river shorts dry quickly and are strong and provide the pockets you will need for little items you'll want to keep close (two pair are enough). Swimming costume, a sarong for women (can be purchased cheaply in Nepal) is useful and invaluable for visiting villages and respecting local custom for dress. It can also be used to replace your towel for drying after washing. Good sunglasses equipped with a retaining device to keep them on your face, sunscreen (SPF 15 or greater and waterproof) is essential (bring from home) lip balm (SPF 15 minimum). Group Size	This is a Small Group Tour whee individual, like-minded travellers come together on the trip. It can, howevere operate as a Private Journey for small groups of friends travlling together, subject to a minimum number being reached.
