One Week Tour of Adrar and Sahara
8 days from EUR 1075 (£853) per person
This classic week long Mauritania trip has been carefully designed to pack in the best of Mauritania's Adrar Plateau region in just a week off work. Travelling in robust 4WD vehicles this is a desert and wilderness safari with little need for physical exertion, other than optional short walks.
Starting and ending in Nouakchott we drive inland to one of Africa's most scenically dramatic areas. If you are a fanatic of ever-changing scenery, chance encounters with welcoming local people, desert exploration, lush palm-lined oases, evocative ancient trading centres and sweet mint tea - then this trip might just be for you!
Largely a camping-based tour, we spend 4 nights under canvas in spacious and local nomad-style tents (3 nights camping wild, 1 night in an oasis) and a couple of nights in Nouakchott in a hotel. A knowledgeable local guide/leader accompanies each trip in addition to a cook and driver. Whether in your own small group or just a couple seeking an off-beat adventure holiday, this itinerary is suitable for all, and can be arranged to depart on whatever date suits you - with reasonable advance notice of course.
