A trip for those with a keen interest in Egypt’s Pharaonic heritage. After exploring the Giza Pyramids and wonders within the Egyptian Museum we travel south to Saqqara and Dahshur to see the lesser-visited Bent and Red Pyramids, then the collapsed pyramid at Meidum. Our journey south takes us through such notables as the rock tombs of Beni Hassan, Akhenaten’s capital at Amarna and the wonderful temples at Abydos and Dendera.

From Luxor we take a calesh ride to explore massive Karnak Temple and look forward to our return when we ride donkeys to the Valley of the Kings. In Aswan we explore the souqs of this traditional frontier town and fly south to stunning Abu Simbel, built by Ramses the Great. Philae Temple provides much interest before we embark on our cruise aboard a comfortable boat back to Luxor, via the temples at Kom Ombo and Edfu.

A sleeper train north to Cairo leaves us with enough time to wander the streets of Islamic Cairo and an opportunity to pick up some bargains in the atmospheric bazaar.
