Today you’ll arrive in Bangkok and be transferred to your accommodation in the golden-spired capital of Thailand.

Setting out from the Thai capital you fly from Bangkok to Siem Reap, the city of Angkor Wat. After transferring to your hotel you embark on your first sunset visit of the sprawling ruins of Angkor.

Angkor is truly the symbol of Cambodia and is a source of great national pride, so much so a depiction of Angkor Wat is part of the Cambodian national flag, the only building to appear on any national flag.

It can’t be emphasised enough just what a wonder the collection of temples at Angkor is and you have plenty of time to explore them over the next 2 days.

A day of highlights as you explore some of the main sights of Angkor. Ta Phrom, a real gem of Angkor, has been largely taken over by the jungle and the sight of temple ruins overgrown with the roots of huge fig trees is unforgettable. Visit Preah Khan where the World Monument Fund has a project.

Return to the hotel in the late morning for a break for lunch and a swim and in the afternoon return to Angkor. You will have the whole afternoon for a visit to the main temple, Angkor Wat before returning to you hotel.

Today is a free day. You can return to the Angkor complex for another visit but you can also opt for an exciting trip to some of the more remote temples such as Beng Mealea and Koh Ker.

After breakfast you will drive to Kompong Thom, along the way stopping briefly at Spean Praptos, a fantastic stone bridge dating from the Angkor period. The bridge is used only for pedestrians and two wheeled vehicles and stands as proof of the craftmanship of the Khmers.

The road to Sambor Prei Kuk today is unpaved and uneven and yet it was the capital of the Chenla Kingdom which predates Angkor by several centuries. The ruins are spread out over a vast distance. Sambor Prei Kuk gets very few visitors and you can enjoy the beautiful ruins in peace and quiet.

After your visit it's back to the main road and the start the last leg to Phnom Penh, approximately 6 hours drive away.

At the end of the afternoon you will reach Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia and a city of great charm and atmosphere.

A day of sightseeing in the capital and around. First we make a journey to Choeng Ek, the location of the infamous Killing Fields, and Tuol Sleng to learn more about the horrors of Cambodia’s past and pay our respects to the victims during the darkest hours of the dreadful Khmer Rouge rule.

After lunch your time is free. We recommend visits to the must-see sights of the Silver Pagoda and Royal Palace and perhaps a visit to one of the interesting markets such as the Central Market or the Russian Market.

An early departure from Phnom Penh allows visits to Yeay Peah and Ta Prohm, two pre-Angkorian temples. Next you continue to Phnom Chisor from where you will have commanding view over the countryside. The walk up the 503 stairs can be a bit strenuous, especially on a hot day – bring plenty of water. There are some interesting ruins on top of the hill and the view over the typical Cambodian countryside is majestic.

Lunch will be in a local restaurant in the small provincial capital Takeo after which you continue to Kampot and hence Kep.

Kep was once a very popular seaside destination in the days of colonial rule but fell into decline. In recent years Kep has seen major development and is now becoming a major destination again for travellers through Cambodia.

Today is a free day - you can relax and enjoy the resort or make a daytrip to the caves of Kompong Trach or maybe to Rabbit Island. From the resort you have a fantastic view over Bokor Mountain and Phu Quoc Island, tomorrow's destination.

Today your adventure continues as you cross the border at the recently opened Xa Xia / Prek Chak crossing, 40 km from Kep. The road is in poor condition but the bouncy ride is compensated by picturesque rural landscapes. 

Crossing the border on foot you enter Vietnam - your driver will be waiting for you and will transfer you to Rach Gia from where where the boats for Phu Quoc leave. Rach Gia is about 90 kms from Xa Xia and it will take approximately 3 hours to get there. After lunch in a local restaurant you will board the Bien Xanh boat that departs at 13:30 for the three hour and a half hour journey to An Thoi, the main port of Phu Quoc. From there you will be transferred to your hotel, located on Long Beach.

After the travelling of yesterday today is a free day on Phu Quoc Island. You can relax on the beach or book one of the tours the resort offers. The island Phu Quoc has a lively fishing industry and is famous for its fish sauce and is today a developing traveller destination. Declared a National Park it has some of the best beaches in Vietnam.

Today is another free day on Phu Quoc Island. How about a fishing or snorkelling trip, or set off to explore the island on your own?

Late this morning you will be transferred to An Thoi and take the boat back to Rach Gia where you will be met by your guide and driver. Next you drive to Can Tho, the hub of the Mekong Delta region. The drive to Can Tho will take about 3 hours (110 km).

Now you start your exploration of the fascinating Mekong Delta region. This is a major rice producing area and highly fertile it produces an abundance of tropical fruit and vegetables and has to be one of the most interesting river deltas in the world.

Here the Mekong splits into nine major arteries and from these a vast network of rivers and waterways with thousands of ships of all sizes ply the waters give the Mekong Delta a very special atmosphere.

This morning you’ll depart early for a boat trip to the floating markets of Cai Rang and Phong Dien. Here all manner of goods are sold and these two markets are renowned for their atmosphere.

Later you drive to Ho Chi Minh City enjoying lunch along the way. Ho Chi Minh City was the capital of South Vietnam before the reunification of the country in 1975 and was called Saigon at that time; it was renamed Ho Chi Minh City after the Communist victory. Today both names are used interchangeably and the city has become the economic driving force of the country.

Today you are free to explore this exciting city - stroll along the boulevards and take in the sights. A visit to the War Remnants Museum is a sobering reminder of the country’s mid-20th century turmoil, whilst the Reunification Palace shows who was victorious. Saigon has just about everything to offer: mysterious pagodas, bustling markets, great food, colonial architecture and a variety of interesting museums. Take time perhaps to enjoy a drink on the roof of the famous Rex Hotel from where you have a great view over the city.

The morning an excursion out of the city takes you to Tay Ninh and the great Cao Dai temple for noon mass. Cao Dai-ism is an eclectic mix of Buddhism, Confucius, Taoism, Hinduism and Christianity and the temple here is as famous as it is ornate.

This afternoon we visit the famous Cu Chi Tunnels where you will have the unique opportunity to experience life as a Viet Cong guerrilla who lived underground during the war. The 200km of tunnels are amazing and a crawl through 50-100 meters is unforgettable.

You will also visit a local rice-paper workshop before returning to your hotel.
