Expertise and Specialisation
Viator Travel offers tours which focus on activities such as walking, cycling and kayaking, cultural sightseeing, leisure breaks or combinations of all or some of these elements.
Choose from tailor made travel plans of join us on our fixed-date small group trips.
Our tours aim to genuinely take our clients off the beaten track, away from regular tour routes, to different landscapes and places, as well as to the better known places. We’ll take you from hills in the Konavle countryside, the mystical island Lokrum, Mljet National Park, the narrow streets of island Sipan and historical Dubrovnik – Byron’s pearl of the Adriatic. Eschewing mass tourism, we discover each destination by meeting the people, exploring the culture, and discovering each area through its cuisine and wines, legends and stories. We travel slowly on itineraries that are already for you off the shelf or which can be adapted or completely tailor made.
We mainly focus on southern Croatia, the Dalmatian Coast and its islands and hinterland, but our experience is such that we can make arrangements in the rest of the country as well as Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Licences and Associations
Viator Travel is licensed Croatian tour operator, with licence no. HR-AB-20-090019859. We are members of the Croatian Tourist Board, and UHPA, the Association of Croatian Travel Agents. Viator Travel holds Public Liability insurance with Jadransko Osiguranje Ltd.
Responsible Travel
We have a strong responsible tourism policy. We foster principles of responsible and sustainable tourism with all those we deal with and make great effort to minimise any negative and maximize all positive aspects of travel.
Our tours take place out of doors and we have a goal to leave as few traces as possible, reduce, reuse and recycle as much as we can, save energy and remember that the future is in our hands. Every travel destination is someones home.
As travel and tourism is a big industry which expands more and more into delicate areas of nature, be it rural areas, national parks or forests we believe that our presence there should be in small groups.
Viator Travel employs only people from the local community: our tour leaders, guides, drivers, house owners and restaurant owners are all locals, so we directly and indirectly support local communities and individuals who gain additional financial support from our clients.
Food and Beverages
On our regular trips breakfasts are included, as is a welcome dinner; occasionally lunches are included but we generally leave most meals free so you can discover the wonderful local flavours of Croatia’s food. Where included we try to ensure that meals are representative of the region, use fresh local produce, organic wherever possible.
Accommodation
Our regular trips stay in both private apartments (with much local character) and village houses, however for our tailor made trips we are also able to arrange accommodation in 2 to 5 star hotels, pensions and guesthouses, should you require.
Transport
We use minivans and minibuses, local buses, local boat services and chartered boats, sea kayaks and cycles!
Local Guides
Guided tours are lead by experienced, professional English-speaking Croatian guides. Our guides are locally licensed, and variously experts in history and archaeology, mountain walking, kayaking etc. They are chosen for their ability to lead groups in an unobtrusive way, remain calm under pressure, organise logistics and interact socially with guests.
Age Restrictions
Our regular tours are generally suitable for children aged 12 years or over and generally up to around 75 years. Tailor-made itineraries can easily be created for ages outside these brackets.
What to Bring
Each trip requires different equipment, but in general lightweight trail boots, summer clothes, wind and waterproof jacket if trekking, swim gear and sun protection in the form of sun hat, sunglasses and suncream. Please contact us for specifics and we’ll be happy to advise.
