Established in 1992 and now with 15 years of experience, Embah is a family run business, a specialist in the Sinai region of Egypt. After years of living in the area, Ehab an Egyptian and Ema Louis, a Scot, together with our dedicated team condensed our knowledge and passion for the land into a project that aims to protect the land and its indigenous Bedouin people whilst at the same time promoting a responsible kind of tourism. Combining Eastern desert specialisms and Western management our combined experience has created a unique and specialist team.
In addition to our full Western Desert trips, excursions to Luxor, Aswan, Alexandria & Cairo and also to Jordan offering the ability to tack on other geographical areas to a Sinai trip.

Expertise and Specialisation
Embah is perhaps the only Sinai desert specialist to combine a wide range of exciting desert and underwater adventures, from one-day activities to multi-day trips with exploration in a thoroughly responsible way. Our itineraries lead travellers on journeys far removed from those many other less-experienced operators offer and if it’s something a little unusual you want we can probably help. Our walking and trekking trips will help you discover the Sinai’s natural beauty and introduce you to Bedouin life, whilst camping expeditions and camel safaris allow us to reach places few Westerners ever see. We offer a variety of set departures or can tailor-make a specific trip for you – the choice is yours – and with close relationships with accommodation providers and an experienced dive company there is little we won’t be able to assist with.
Licences and Associations
Embah Safari, Tours & Travel is a registered company and holds all appropriate licenses and insurances in order to operate with the approval of the Ministry of Tourism in Egypt.
Responsible Travel
We recognize that the effects of tourism in such a delicate environment as the Sinai can be harmful and sometimes destructive to tribal traditions and to the desert environment.
Our aim is to sustain and support the traditional lifestyles of the region in ways which are typical to the elder Bedouin, and to introduce a managed degree of modern facilities to motivate and attract the younger generation to continue to live in the desert.
How? We are continually working towards creating an awareness of the issues and effects involved in tourism and promote respect of the land and this ancient culture. A number of projects which work in conjunction with various Bedouin tribes are currently in place and these allow you to participate on a practical level. We are continually working to put back into the environment what tourism can if poorly managed take out, whilst ensuring our own activities make only positive impacts.
Desert Safaris
Season: Year round
Explore the remarkable landscape of the Sinai peninsula by 4wd, camel – or both! On our single day or multi-day trips we’ll explore rugged desert landscapes, discover amazing canyons seen by few travellers, oases and meet the local Bedouin people who make this harsh landscape their home. A climb of Mt Sinai at sunset or sunrise is incorporated in many trips and you’ll finish your time with us with fantastic memories and a greater understanding about this very special corner of the world.
Walking and Trekking
Season: Year round
One of the best ways of exploring the Sinai wilderness is on foot when inaccessible places and those with a historical perspective can easily be visited. Walks can vary in length and difficulty with all ages and levels of fitness catered for. A highlight is nights spent under clear desert skies.
Diving
Season: Year round
It’s no secret that the Sinai’s Red Sea waters are some of the best dive sites in the world, with stunning underwater marine life to see all along the coral coast. Our close connection with one of the area’s premier dive centres enables us to offer our clients the best prices for the best diving.
Diving Safaris
Season: Year round
Why not combine the best of both worlds with a 4WD or camel safari AND diving. This way more remote, difficult to get to dive sites can be reached with all the fun of a safari.
Wellness
Season: Year round
The warm desert climate of the stunning Sinai peninsula is perfect for resting both body and soul. The mountains and our yoga programs provide inspiration and freedom for the mind whilst the warm waters allow the sea to work its magic. Those that have never tried yoga and more experienced practitioners alike will enjoy the relaxed Embah style, whilst the ability to work in unique locations around the peninsula is a feature that will stay with you long after your time with us. We also offer Swedish and Thai Massage or Aromatherapy along with Reiki sessions.
Accommodation and Transfers
Season: Year round
Family Tours
Season: Year round
As a family owned and run company with small children ourselves we understand from a personal perspective just what is required for the perfect holiday, whether it be a week relaxing by the Red Sea with a little snorkelling to a desert expedition with an educational flavour – or a mix of the two. We are highly experienced in tailor-making arrangements in such a way as to minimise the difficulties of family-travel whilst maximising relaxation and the experience as a whole. We can cater from Mum and Dad plus one, right through to extended or multiple families all with equal ease.
Multi-Active Holidays
Season: Year round
Given the wide variety of things to see and do throughout the peninsula we have developed a range of multi-active itineraries that combine all the key elements in to fun-filled holidays that stay with you long after the tan of a week or so in the Sinai has gone. We can offer itineraries as busy or relaxed as you like with accommodation to suit your needs.
Food and Beverages
All meals served on safaris are freshly prepared and cooked on the open fire. Priority is given to discovering local cuisine. Bedouin tea & Egyptian coffee is included and soft drinks or beer is available to purchase on location and upon request. Safaris with overnights in the desert are offered on a Full Board basis whilst trips with accommodation in hotels are proposed on a B&B or Half Board basis. We can cater to almost all special dietary requirements if given sufficient advanced notice.
Accommodation
Embah offers hotels selected for their high cleanliness and high standards of customer care and always try to give priority to locally-owned businesses offering good value for money. From Budget to Luxury category any standard of accommodation is available. When sleeping out under the stars we do so in comfort allowing an appreciation of our surroundings and that back-to-nature experience without drowning the experience in contrived luxury.

Local Guides
Our desert guides are some of our most valued staff and are true assets. Highly experienced in their own right and selected for their leadership qualities they are then trained in house to our own standards. All are English-speaking and all are able to convey clearly the interesting aspects of the country and its people to their guests.
Our Egyptologists are extremely knowledgeable and specialists in sightseeing areas such as Cairo, Alexandria or the Nile Valley. Whilst in Jordan we employ the best local guides available.
Age Restrictions
We do not operate an age restriction policy as our experience enables us to tailor trips to suit families with babies and toddlers right through to more experienced and mature, yet less mobile travellers.
