Bird Service specialises in offering a range of nature and culture experiences in Southern Poland. Licences and Associations

Under rulings set by the Polish government, all travel operators have to obtain a Tourism Enterprise License which is renewed annually with the Department of Tourism. One of its requirements is to holds Public Liability insurance cover.

Bird Service organises nature-friendly tours in Poland, promoting the protection of landscapes, bio-habitats, traditions and monuments. Our continuous exploration of the country brings direct economic benefits to the rural areas of Poland - given the fact that most of our tours are based and hosted in local owned hotels and guest houses. At the same time Bird Service works hard for the environmental education of the locals, increasingly committing them to the protection of the Poland natural and cultural inheritance, towards a sustainable and developed eco-tourism future.

Cycling

Season: May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct

Our standard cycling tours are aimed not at doing the longest distance possible but rather at enjoying the surrounding landscapes and local culture. Bird Service enables adventure off-road tours of one or more days absorbed in pure nature. Our guides know an infinite number of routes in the 'par excellence' off-road country! Just to let us know how much time you have available and how difficult you want the tour to be.

Trekking

Season: May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct

Southern Poland is a perfect place for trekking. Thanks to a long and popular tradition of mountain walks, Polish mountains have a wide variety of well marked trails suitable for every walker from simple relaxing strolls to serious long distance trails in Alpine scenery. On our one week tours we make sure that travellers have the opportunity not only to trek but also to explore the unique mountaineer folklore in the evenings.

Birdwatching

Season: Year round

Poland is renowned for its nature heritage. There are some eco-systems that can be found nowhere else in Europe. We work only with the best guides who have wide knowledge in the field of ornithology. Carefully chosen itineraries and destinations make a number of 150 species almost guaranteed! Where you are lucky you can spot up to 200 with highlights such as roller, great snipe, aquatic warbler, Ural and pigmy owls and all European species of woodpeckers.

Snow Shoeing

Season: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, Dec

During the whole winter season we offer guided snow shoe trips. Everyone can join these easy walks in the mountains. You do not need to be a skier, a snowboarder or an expert climber. It is an excellent weekend choice in winter/early spring months combined with some genuine traditional events as sleigh ride and folk music concerts!

Food and Beverages

We tend to organise our tours on a bed and breakfast basis, leaving travellers the opportunity to explore local restaurants on their own in the evening. Some tours in more remote areas are offered on a full pension basis due to the lack of choice in these regions. Nevertheless we are quite flexible in the matter of food included on our tours.

Accommodation

Accommodation on our tours varies between 3-4 star hotels in the bigger cities to small pensions in the more remote areas. According to the area where the tour is located, we will be able to provide the best and most comfortable accommodation to our guests.

Transport

Transport for tours largely relies on minibuses and buses depending on the group size. On bird watching tours a minibus usually accompanies the group during the whole trip. Cycling and trekking tours are operated with bus support. Depending on the type of trip a service vehicle accompanies the group when necessary.

Local Guides

Every Tour Leader / Guide in Poland has to pass an exam to obtain a special license. We go beyond that by carefully selecting our staff and organising additional training as we know that their performance on tour is crucial.

Age Restrictions

Minimum age: 10. Maximum age: 80.

What to Bring

On cycling trips, clip pedals can be brought and installed on our bikes if needed.
