Wild coastlines and craggy isles of West Falkland

The Western Falkland Islands are scattered, varied and even more remote than the islands to the east. With a population of just about 100 people, this is Camp proper – the real Falklands.

Across the scattered isles of the Western archipelago the terrain is mixed, with rock-strewn hills and peaty plains covered in grasslands and small shrubs. Dramatic cliffs frame pristine beaches, each brimming with an abundance of birdlife.

Where there are roads – and there are few – they are generally dirt and some of the most interesting areas are assessable only by 4WD, including some wonderful areas for fishing, walking or birdwatching.

Many of most interesting smaller islands can be found in the west, including Bleaker, West Point, Carcass, Saunders and Pebble Islands. The welcome when you join the inhabitabts of these remote hamlets is, quite simply, second to none.

Why Travel to Western Islands?

  • Wander the coastline – cliffs or white sandy beaches, deserted but for wildlife.
  • Go fishing in areas almost untouched by rod and line.
  • Fill your camera with never-to-be forgotten images.
  • Enjoy the solitude of exploring this wilderness on foot or by 4x4.
