Consisting of the provinces of La Habana, Matanzas and Pinar del Rio, the Western region of Cuba is the most visited in the country.

From the all-inclusive resorts of Varadero to the north, which boasts a cool 25km of white sandy beaches, and the historical site of the Bay of Pigs in the south, the region is home to beautiful coastlines, varied countryside and Cuba’s vibrant capital city, Havana.

To the west Pinar del Rio is a lush agricultural region, with vast fields of sugar cane and tobacco filling vast valleys between ‘megote’ limestone hills. Vinales is a popular place to stay here, with fantastic opportunities for walking and cycling in the area. Further west roads become rougher and distances take longer to cover as you reach the Guanahacabibes Peninsula and the charming small village of Maria la Gorda, where some of the best scuba diving in the country is found.

Beautiful Cayes and Caribbean Isles lie off the coast of Western Cuba, such as Cayo Levisa and Isla de la Juventitud. These paradise islands offer untouched beauty and a magical Caribbean escape.
