Still chic and delightful the advent of low-cost carriers flying into Pisa and Florence has put this incredible, must-see destination within the reach of all. Rolling fields, vineyards and cypress trees epitomize the landscape of Tuscany in the traveller’s mind’s-eye, and whilst this Chianti scenery is cherished the region has much more than just vineyards to discover.

Head north to Pisa to see the famous Leaning Tower en route to Lucca, gateway to the Garfagnana valley where walkers can explore the Apuane Alps and Apennines. To the south are the triple Renaissance marvels of Florence, Siena and the tower town of San Gimignano – all UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Head south for dramatically different scenery and great opportunities for walking, biking and even horseriding or rent a villa, a simple pension room or stay in a character-filled hotel and set out to explore villages and vineyards on foot, bike or by car.
