The nation's capital, Phnom Penh, has the Mekong riverfront – one of the best riverfronts in Asia – with relaxing bars that provide the perfect spot to relax after sightseeing to its pagodas and museums.

To the south as yet undeveloped beaches spread along the coast with Sihanoukville the only major resort-town: visit soon as the word is out and the inevitable beach bungalows will follow. Explore beyond the sands for a taste of the region’s other attractions…

At Bokor there are jungles and a hill-station as well as colonial architecture both here and at nearby riverside Kampot; Kep too has old colonial buildings. The wild west coast has Botum Sokur National Park whilst in the east there’s Phnom Da and Angkor Borei temples, birthplace of the Khmer culture.
