Réunion's High Plains is pure excitement at every corner – from the high plateaux of the Plaine des Cafres and Plaine des Palmistes, to the massif of Piton de la Fournaise (Furnace Peak). Just a few miles inland from the waters of the Indian Ocean, this is one of the most active volcanic spots on planet earth! The volcano acts as a magnet for travellers to this remarkable tropical island, though to avoid the crowds it is best approached either on foot, or early in the morning before others arrive.
