South Africa’s Northern Cape Province, located in the north-west of the country, is the largest region at 361,000 square kilometres yet it is the least populated.

Home to such places of interest as Kimberley, Namaqua National Park and the Great Karoo, it has a diverse appeal to visitors.

The region’s capital is Kimberley; a city of significant historical importance due to its diamond mining past. Here you can visit the Open Mine Museum to see the first recorded diamond that was found here, Flamingo Island; a paradise for bird watchers and the Diggers’ Memorial and Gardens.

So from the natural beauty of the national parks and reserves to the cultural delights of the cities, the Northern Cape Province of South Africa has something to offer every traveler.
