Stretching from Baie du Tombeau to Melville this coast includes the lively ‘St. Tropez’ of Mauritius – Grand Baie: with numerous hotels, bars, restaurants, casinos and clubs to choose from. At the island’s northern tip of Cap Malheureux, several offshore island nature reserves are visible, some of them idyllic destinations for organised boat excursions from Grand Baie. In this region sugar cane plantations roll back from the coast to the distant mountains, and two of the island’s major attractions - the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens and the L’Aventure du Sucre - are only a short drive away near Pamplemousses.
