The Mediterranean Coast is a major attraction and seaside playground for visitors to Turkey. Those seeking an adrenaline-rush would do well to visit Kaş where every type of activity from canyoning and rafting to paragliding can be found and where the coast is popular amongst families and individuals alike and there is a cosmopolitan feel to the towns strung along the coast.
Lovers of the great outdoors are spoiled too with the Lycian Way, a way marked walking trail that ramblers will love, running right through the region. Here you can visit hinterland villages on jeep safaris or on foot or take a look at what lies beneath the waves sea-kayaking over Kekova’s sunken streets or enjoying some of the best diving in the Mediterranean.
Lovers of history can indulge their passion with visits to several of the country’s best-known archaeological sites, the eagles-nest of Termessos with its grand views and tumbling necropolis and Aspendos whose superb theatre is so complete it’s still in use today; other antique cities can be found close by such as Selge and Perge.
Want some white-water fun then how about rafting on the exciting Köprülü Canyon - a river suitable even for beginners – or enjoy walks or cycle rides to rural villages largely untouched by the 21st century. The there’s the city of Antalya, waterfalls, boat trips…
