One of the most diverse South African provinces, KwaZulu-Natal is famous for four key elements - bush, beaches, battlefields and berg. There is a plethora of great places to visit and things to do in this colourful region. And, of course, KwaZulu-Natal is the place to spend some time learning about Zulu culture and history. Flanked by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and overlooked by the soaring peaks of the Drakensberg, KwaZulu-Natal has two World Heritage Sites - the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park and the mountainous 'Barrier of Spears', uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park.

It also has a reputation for providing a high quality 'big five' safari experience in several well-managed game reserves. The province is also a playground for sun-worshippers with ten world-class golden beaches. Culturally it is very rich, steeped in living Zulu tradition it is the realm of the legendary Zulu kings. For those who prefer more activity, a whole host of pursuits are possible - from biking to hiking or from diving to gliding - you'll find something for you. Don't rush this great province, you could easily spend a month exploring in depth, though a two-week trip will reveal most of its wonderful places.
