The largest peninsula in Croatia and usually overlooked by those looking to the south Istria is without doubt a hidden gem, the Tuscany of Croatia

With a strong Italian flavour and with its own special identity Istria has wonderful Mediterranean climate, myth and legend in abundance and Venetian-style towns. The landscape of vineyards and olive groves are perfect for exploring on a walking or cycling holiday, and the many impossibly atmospheric coastal towns such as Rovinj, Pula and Porec to provide much cultural interest and there are many historical sites to discover.

Other highlights include the medieval towns of Buje, Buzet, Motovun and Groznjan as well as the offshore Brijuni islands.
