Encompassing the icy vastness of the Annapurna massif, Pokhara with its wonderful Phewa Lake to the Langtang and Helambu region, central Nepal has it all. Whether you want to gaze upon some of the highest mountains in the world from close up, take to the river for some adrenaline-fuelled white-water rafting, wander historic towns such as Bandipur or just ramble through the hills enjoying your Himalayan views from a comfortable lodge or hotel there’s something for everyone here.

Trekkers come to walk the Annapurna Circuit or the easier Royal Trek or to walk to the holy Gosainkund Lakes beyond the dramatic Langtang Valley north of Kathmandu. Several trekking peaks are open to those that want to climb higher and don’t be surprised to see mountain bikers on your way as some of the best off road routes in the world can be found her. Follow the road into Tibet for a journey to Lhasa or take to the snarling Seti and Trisuli rivers which provide white-water enthusiasts with some excellent rafting experiences.
