On Costa Rica´s Caribbean coast you will find every thing you could imagine for a lush tropical paradise. This is a wonderful location for ecotourists, with spectacular beaches and rich rainforest, both overflowing vegetation and wildlife.
In the north of the region, a complex system of river channels provides the main way of getting around, connecting the settlements, people and places along the coast.
The main attractions in the area are Tortuguero National Park and Barra del Colorado National Wildlife Refuge, where wildlife watching, turtle spotting and fishing are all very popular.
Further south, the natural beauty of the beaches around Cahuita and Puerto Vargas are popular for surfing and relaxation. They are also complemented by the largest fringing coral reef in the Costa Rican Caribbean.
The reefs off Punta Cocles, Punta Uva, Manzanillo and Punta Mona are also impressive, each ideal Costa Rican dive sites for admiring coral (brain, moose- and deer-horn, fire, rose, lettuce and more), mollusks, sea fans, crustaceans, turtles and multicolored fish, among other attractions.
Cahuíta National Park and Gandoca Manzanillo Reserve are renowned worldwide for their natural beauty and for the conservation of their unique Caribbean ecosystems.
