The Aegean Coast is the repository of countless treasures both manmade and natural. From the well-preserved Greco-Roman and Lycian cities of Pergamum, Ephesus and Xanthos to walking in the mountains and the stunning waters of the Turquoise Coast the region has something for everyone, with families particularly well catered for.

Those that enjoy discovering the history of the place they visit will perhaps find most to occupy their time – the region has what is possibly the largest concentration of ancient sites in Europe, and visitors are likely to have the smaller sites to themselves, even at the busiest time of the year.

Lovers of the great outdoors are spoiled too with great walking on their doorstep and where hinterland villages can be discovered on jeep safaris or foot.

Those seeking an adrenaline-rush would do well to visit Dalyan where every type of activity from canyoning and rafting to paragliding can be found. Turkey’s Aegean Coast is popular amongst families and individuals alike and there is a cosmopolitan feel to the region with some great nightlife to enjoy in centres such as Bodrum, Marmaris and Dalyan.
