Addu atoll is a relatively small atoll and marks the southern end of the Maldive archipelago. The atoll is 21 km long and it is edged by barrier reefs with large islands on its eastern and western sides.
Other atolls in the south, between Addu and the Male atoll in the north are made up of Huvdhoo atoll, which is the world’s largest atoll and the largest of the Maldive atolls, measuring 79 km from north to south and edged by an almost continuous reef; Haddhunmathi atoll, Kolhumadulhu atoll, Nilandhe Atoll, Mulaku Atoll, Felidhu Atoll and the Ari atoll group. Ari is the westernmost atoll of the chain and consists of around 50 islands lying almost opposite Male in the atoll chain.
As with the northern atolls these islands offer sun, sand, turquoise seas, dazzling underwater coral gardens and tropical marine life, making for the perfect tropical holiday destination.
