Welcome to North Africa, a cultural melting pot that reaches from the shores of the Atlantic to the tropical waters of the Red Sea. From the kasbah's of Morocco to the pharaonic wonder of ancient Thebes - today's Luxor - there's much to see and do for the traveller who wants more than the beach.

The berber tradition is strong in the Atlas Mountains and a trek through the valleys and timeless stone-built villages that cling to their walls is just one way of experiencing wonderful Morocco. There are great riads to stay in whilst you discover the famous souks of the Imperial Cities of Fez and Marrakech (some with more than a touch of luxury...) whilst the Sahara begs to be explored by camel or jeep.

Egypt's sites need no introduction but here too there are surprises. Climb Mt Sinai, learn to dive or just snorkel on amazing coral reefs, take jeeps to the dramatic White Desert or discover the wonders of Islamic Cairo.  Sandwiched between the two are French-speaking Algeria and Tunisia plus the ever-more-popular Libya, a country with hundeds of miles of deserted Mediterranean coast and some of the greatest Roman remains on earth!
