Diving at Whale Island is ideal for beginners and more experienced divers with gently sloping beach dives, deep drop offs, drift diving and safe, simple diving from the beach to a maximum depth of 15 metres. For the more adventurous there are exciting wall dives down to 40 metres, coral gardens at 10-15 metres and racing drift dives. Marine life is equally as exciting with chances of spotting sharks as the waters soon get deep off the coast. Good accommodation offering a range of water-based activities complete the reasons to head here for a break from exploring the south of Vietnam.
Located 70km north of Nha Trang and accessed by boat the area has been associated with scuba diving for many years and is known to have been the place where Jacques Cousteau first discovered his passion for the underwater world.
Every year between April and July both whales and whale sharks come to stay in the archipelago, feeding on the abundant krill and plakton., often in numbers as great as 15! A must for any diver!
