Venice is a city that is located in Northern Italy and it is often referred to as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The city stretches across 118 small islands in the Venetian Lagoon and it is famed for its bridges and canals. Attractions in Venice range from gondola rides to museums in abundance.
Venice is believed to date back to 827 when a Byzantine Duke moved its seat there. However, in 1797 the city was conquered by Napoleon.
Attractions in Venice
Cultural attractions are plentiful in Venice and they include the infamous Saint Mark's Basilica, Piazza San Marco, Doge's Palace, The Peggy Guggenheim Museum, Campanile di San Marco and the Rialto Bridge as well as the canals of course.
Activities in Venice
The main activity in Venice is to enjoy a gondola ride which affords superb views of the surrounding architecture and bridges. You can also attend numerous festivals such as Venice Carnival. Or perhaps spend a day on the islands where you'll find museums and picturesque villages with authentic charm.

Relax in the numerous restaurants, bars and cafes or check out events and festivals such as the infamous Venice Carnival.
Getting Around
Venice is a pedestrian city and so it is easy to get around. There are also vaporetti (water buses) and water taxis, or of course you can enjoy a gondola ride.
