The Trisuli River has been rafted for many years now, its appeal lying in its close proximity to Kathmandu, and therefore the price of trips is reasonable, and the excellent Grade 3 rapids making it suitable for the less-experienced or novice rafter during the winter season. The monsoon rains bring altogether different challenges meaning this river has something for everyone.
For much of the year the rapids on the Trisuli are fairly straightforward Grade 3s, easily negotiated and well spaced out. For those looking for a two-day trip at a great price then the Trisuli has lots to offer even though its critics point out that for much of its course the river follows the main Prithvi Highway. It can be a busy river and campsites are not as clean as on some others but nonetheless it remains perennially popular.
Activities in Trisuli River
Most trips start from a put-in point 3 hours or so west of Kathmandu, making it an excellent choice for clients en route to Pokhara, Bandipur or Chitwan National Park. The Trisuli can be a 1, 2 or 3-day trip (between 20km and 60km) but the 2-day experience is most popular. Almost all people tend to tack on Chitwan National Park as its only 1 hour to Sauraha from the take out point.
