Toruń is a medieval city in North-Western Poland and it is located on the Vistula River. It was put onto the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1997 and with its beautiful architecture it is easy to see why.
People come here for the medieval attractions and buildings but the area also has a number of bars and clubs to appeal to a more youthful audience.
During medieval times, between the 7th and the 13th centuries, the area was an old Polish settlement and the Teutonic Knights built a castle there. The town was granted city rights by the Polish Crown in 1233 and in 1236 it was relocated to the present site of the Old Town. Then in later years it was put on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
