If you are new to trekking and want to test the water, or are perhaps travelling with a young family then the Royal Trek should be a consideration. 4 days in duration the trek provides all the classic ingredients of walking in Nepal – great mountain views and picturesque villages with walks that will tire but not exhaust you.
The trek comes in several different forms and some itineraries are longer than others, but the classic follows a route taken by Prince Charles in 1981 – Pokhara/Kalikasthan/Syaglung/Chisopani/Begastal/Pokhara. Walks average around 5 hours per day and nights can be spent either camping or in the many rustic yet comfortable teahouses that can be found along the way as you wish. Two lovely lakes – Begnas Tal and Rupa Tal are included in this walk.
The walk can be made October through to April, with December to February decidedly cold. The maximum elevation reached is around 1,500m meaning there are no problems with altitude sickness to consider.
Mountain views include great looks at the Annapurnas and Manaslu Himal as well as the 'fish tail' of Machhapuchhare.
Enjoy the company of your tour leader and porters as you relax in the evening.
