Throughout the Pyrenees there are numerous marked walking trails. Of those the GR10 is a long distance route running the length of the Pyrenees, from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean covering a distance of around 500 miles.

The route offers wonderful walking and a variety of landscapes through the Basque Pyrenees, the mountains of the Haute Pyrenees to the more balmy areas of the Mediterranean. The route can be tackled in stages with planned stops at a village hotel or mountain refuge each evening.

How much of the route you want to walk and where to start and stop can be decided by you but most stages involve both ascents and descents and it is typical to be climbing around 1,000m in a day.
