Although Saint-Rose is only a small fishing town with a harbour, it is the area south of here that is of particular interest, where the first forks of lava from active Piton de la Fournaise have spread down the volcanic slopes of the mountain. Two attractions worthy of a visit are close by: Notre Dame des Laves and Anse des Cascades.

Attractions in Saint-Rose

In Saint-Rose the only point of note in the town itself is a monument to Corbett, a youthful English naval commander who was killed in battle against the French in 1809.

Getting Around

Located on the East Coast of Reunion, Saint-Rose lies around 60 km south of Saint-Denis.
