Named after the British monarch, much of Victoria Land is mountainous, forming the eastern part of the Transantarctic Mountains. Here there are numerous scattered volcanoes including Mount Erebus and Mount Terror. Antarctic cruises visiting the Ross Sea will often get incredible views of these volcanic peaks, as well as playing visits to locatons like Cape Adare, Franklin Island, Terra Nova Bay and Paulet Island.

The Ross Sea is fairly shallow – and the Ross Ice Shelf is spectacular. As with most accessible regions of Antarctica, there is a great quantity of wildlife – particularly penguins, whales, seals and seabirds.

The Dry Valleys – towards the south of this area – see very little rain and are among the most unusual places on earth. Very few tourists come to this region compared with other parts of Antarctica, such as the Antarctic Peninsula, but this is a truly magnificent region - where history lives alongside ice, mountains, glaciers and wildlife.

Attractions in Ross Sea and Victoria Land Coastline

Each visit to Antarctica will vary, due to ice and sea conditions, but each place you visit and every direction you sail offers its own charm, surprises and memories. It is no wonder that many people find they become hooked on Antarctica and return again and again.
