Sat near the Vanoise Glaciers in the Tarentaise Valley and located in the Vanoise National Park on its doorstep the village of Pralognan-la-Vanoise is perfectly located for summer walking and winter skiing. It has managed to preserve its atmosphere and offers some stunning views over the Vanoise Glaciers with some great après-ski and non-ski alternatives for those seeking other sports.
For skiiers the village offers four blue, eight green, six red and four black runs with the ski area sitting between 1,400m and 2,350m.There are 14 lifts servicing the resort, which offers a vertical descent of 990m. Add to this 32 kilometres of cross-country trails between 1,410 and 1,800m, plus night skiing, and you can see why the village is so popular.
Summer opens the mountains to the walker and trekker and those searcing for walking holidays in the Alps will be hard-pressed to find a better location with some of the best day-long and circular walks to be found.
Getting to Pralognan is easy with the Eurostar direct from London and Paris available. Flights to Lyon (180km), Chambery (104km) or Geneva (150kms) are all available.
