At 3071m high, Piton des Neiges is the highest mountain on the Indian Ocean island of Reunion. An alpine-class peak, the magnificent volcanic remnant dominates the three cirques of Mafate, Salazie and Cilaos.

The mountain is normally clearly visible early in the morning (before the mist rolls in) from either Hell-Bourg or Cilaos (both accessible by road).
