Opole is the capital city of Opolskie, in south west Poland and is home to one of the most popular song festivals in Poland. However, it also has beautiful architecture, stunning churches and cathedrals and numerous bars, pubs and clubs to check out.
Opole is the capital city of Opolskie, in south west Poland. The historical capital of Upper Silesia was badly damaged during the Nazi-German - Soviet fights at the end of the second world war. However, many houses and buildings in the old town have since been rebuilt.
Attractions in Opole
Opole is teeming with outstanding buildings and architecture that are well worth a visit. See the Opole Town Hall and the Town Square or visit the Piast Tower, the only remnant of the gothic Piast Castle. Or for churches and cathedrals be sure to check out the Franciscan Church of Holy Trinity and Monastery which dates from the 13th and 14 centuries and is the oldest architecture in Opole or the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, a gothic 16th century cathedral.
Finally to learn more about the city head over to either the Opole Silesian Museum or the Opole Village Museum.
