Olsztyn is a city in northeastern Poland, on the River Łyna and is the capital of the Warmian-Masurian region. It is home to numerous historical attractions such as castles and cathedrals as well as cultural places of interest that include museums and theatres. However, you’ll also be able to find plenty of relaxing pastimes here in the city’s parks.
In 1347 the settlement of Allenstein was founded which suffered at the hands of plague and war until in 1945 the city was placed under Polish administration according to the Potsdam Agreement and officially renamed to the traditional Polish Olsztyn.
