Blessed with the lowest rainfall in Vietnam and with a great beach and ideal winds and waves Mui Ne just a few kilometres from better known Phan Thiet is today attracting surfers and kite and windsurfers. There are a wide range of up-market resorts capitalising on the beautiful beach here, but lots of mid-range accommodation besides. If you are near HCM City and need a beach – head to Mui Ne.
The resort of Mui Ne lies 11km or so north of Phan Thiet. Phan Thiet is known as a producer of that Vietnamese staple – nuoc mam, fish sauce. Forget though those inevitable thoughts that come into your head of smelly fish Mui Ne is a 12km long stretch of beach, with the southern end the best bit.
The area is famous for its wind and kite-surfing – come between August and December for the best waves or if you need wind for your sport, October to April.
Also famous are Mui Ne’s sand dunes, easily visited from Mui Ne either independently by bike or on a locally arranged tour.
