Reaching 4,068 metres, the Mgoun summit is second in height only to Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. The remote and beautiful Ait Bougmez Valley provides relatively easy access and gives hill walkers and ramblers a long but easy hike past spectacular gorges, isolated Berber villages and mountain streams.

Being the second summit of the Kingdom, the Mgoun Massif is located in the High Atlas at approximately 250 kilometres from Marrakech in the province of Azilal, east of Jebel Toubkal. The Mgoun Massif relief is formed by massive mountains bordered by high cliffs, and aired by broad valleys which are thoroughly cultivated.

Attractions in Mgoun Massif

The region around Mgoun Massif has many attractions including the Ait Bougmez Valley, Col Oghri mountain (3,200 metres), Tighremt Valley, Ait Boulli village, Oulillimt gorges, Imghrane village, Tessaout, and El Kelaa Mgouna.

Activities in Mgoun Massif

For activities, travellers to the Mgoun Massif can enjoy wilderness camping and magnificent views; explore nearby oases and Kasbahs, trek and ski in the mountains. The ultimate challenge, however, is an ascent of the massif itself on a one week trekking circuit.
