Los Llanos is the largest and busiest town on the island of La Palma with a population of just over 20,000. There are many modern buildings but the traffic-free centre and surrounding side streets still retain their old character.
Los Llanos de Aridane is both a municipality and a town in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It is situated on the westcentral part of the island of La Palma and is the island's second largest town. The town is an important commercial and agricultural centre of the island and lies in one of the loveliest valleys of the Canary countryside which can be viewed in all its beauty from the observation plataform of El Time. Before the Spanish conquest, Aridane was a settlement in the westcentral part of La Palma.
