Lofou village stands at an altitude of about 800 metres on the south-facing slopes of Troodos Mountain. Its name derives from the fact that it is built on a hill (lofos). This traditional stone-built village lies in the wine-producing area, known under the name of krasochoria, about 26 kilometres northwest of Limassol. Its traditional architecture and cobbled streets are largely preserved with many restored houses and buildings. Despite some Bronze Age remains in the area, historical evidence indicates that the village was founded during Byzantine times.
The vilage calm and tranquility makes of it the ideal destination for people wishing to escape the pressures of modern life. Driving downhill for 20 minutes will lead you to Limassol. In the opposite direction are the Troodos Mountains, where you can enjoy watefalls, walking through the forest, and even skiing if you visit Cyprus during winter.
