The remote wilderness of Linyanti Marsh, located at the furthest northwest corner of Chobe National Park (and to the north of Savuti), is adjacent to the Linyanti River. To the west of this area lies Selinda Reserve whilst on the northern bank of the Kwando River is Namibia's Mamili National Park.
Here the Linyanti Swamp covers an area of around 900 sq. km, with Chobe National Park only encompassing a small section on the far eastern edge of the swamp. Papyrus-lined lagoons, reed-beds and towering tree canopies make this one of the most beautiful wilderness areas of the region.
Attractions in Linyanti Marshes
This paradise of river frontage and permanent waterways is renowned for its large concentrations of lion, leopard, wild dog, Roan and Sable antelope, hippo and enormous herds of elephants. The rarer red lechwe, sitatunga and crocodile also occur in the area. Birdlife is very rich.
