Located in north-west Albania/eastern Montenegro and bisected by the Montenegro/ Albanian border, the 370 sq. km Lake Shkodra is the largest lake on the Balkan Peninsula and has an average depth of only 8m and a maximum of 44m. It is also a popular summer holiday destination for eastern Europeans.

The water is generally warm and is rich in fish.
