Kochi is a bustling town located in the south of Shikoku island. The town sits at the foot of Kochi castle which was built in the 17th century and every year the town is filled with travellers who come to see the Yosakoi-Matsuri Festival.
Kochi sits on the coastline of Tosa, with the sandy beaches of Cape Muroto at one end of the bay and Cape Ashizuri at the other. These coastal areas are ideal for water-sports such as swimming and surfing. As well as beautiful beaches, such as Katsura-hama beach, the area also boasts rugged mountains and the limestone caves of Ryu-ga-do.
The Shimanto-gawa River, which starts its journey in the mountains of Tsuno Town, before flowing into the Pacific Ocean, has great opportunities for fishing for river prawns and sweet fish alternatively further downstream you can even enjoy canoeing.
