Gorzów Wielkopolski is a city in western Poland, on the Warta river. Since 1999, it has been one of the two capitals of Lubusz Voivodeship. Known as the city of parks and gardens it has plenty of beautiful places to relax in and generally soak up the atmosphere or there are also many cultural attractions ranging from amphitheatres to cathedrals.
Gorzów Wielkopolski was once under German rule until it was placed under Polish administration according to the post-war Potsdam Conference. Suddenly the German population dwindled and Polish settlers gradually replaced them. The last original German inhabitants left in the 1950s.
Attractions in Gorzów Wielkopolski
Visit the gothic Gorzów Cathedral which dates from the 13th century and now houses a museum as well as offering spectacular views of the surrounding area. Or check out the Museum of Lubusz Voivodeship, the Gorzów Jewish Cemetery or the numerous monuments that are located in the many parks in the city.
Activities in Gorzów Wielkopolski
For cultural activities head to the outdoor amphitheatre where concerts are often held or for something a little more active then grab a bike and cycle in one of the numerous parks and open spaces that together cover more than 130 hectares.

Gorzów Wielkopolski is known as the city of parks and gardens and so is teeming with beautiful spaces in which to relax. For example there’s the Park of Roses (Park Róż) or if you climb the hill in Siemirodzki Park you’ll be rewarded with fantastic views of the city and surrounding area.
Getting Around
You can get around Gorzów Wielkopolski by way of public transport or car; however, it is possible to get around by bike or foot due to the sheer number of parks and greenery.
