The Maldives have some of the most spectacular diving in the world with an abundance of corals and marine life including Hammerhead sharks, grey reef sharks, white tip reef sharks, eagle rays, manta rays, turtles, frogfish, triggerfish, surgeonfish, jacks, trevallies, snappers, napoleon wrasse, barracudas...

The types of diving which are available in the Maldives are reef diving, drift diving and night diving, when the marine life are at their most active. Some of the best dive sites in the Maldives include Banana Reef, a superb wall reef with corals, reef fish, snappers and moray eels; Lions Head, a protected marine park boasting a large variety of marine life and Girifushi Thila, one of the best known and most beautiful dive sites in the Maldives.

To access a wider range of sites and to get to those which are more remote, a liveaboard trip is one of the best ways to do this. Alternatively you can opt for day diving from one of the many island resorts which allows you to explore one particular area. Why not have the best of both worlds with one week on a liveaboard and one week onshore?
