Curepipe is one of the main residential towns in Mauritius. It is a busy town with good shopping, plentiful restaurants and is home to Mauritius’s largest football stadium. Situated in the south-west corner of the town is a lovely, peaceful, botanical garden.

Curepipe became a large and prosperous town when in 1867 the residents of Port Louis fled their homes and headed inland during a malaria epidemic.
