The Cameron Highlands is a highland region located in Pahang, Malaysia and is the largest and most famous hill resort in the country. This highland paradise still retains much of the charm of an English village and enjoys a cool climate, with temperatures no higher than 25 °C and rarely falling below 12 °C year round.
The Cameron Highlands were named after William Cameron, a British colonial government surveyor who discovered the area during a mapping expedition in 1885. Development of the area came soon after, when British planters realised the potential of the fertile mountain slopes for growing tea. The Highlands is now Malaysia's largest tea-producing region as well as producing strawberries and vegetables on its many farms.
Attractions in the Highlands include the Lata Iskandar waterfalls, trekking in Gunung Brinchang with superb views of the surrounding area, taking a tour of the many strawberry farms and tea plantations or perhaps taking a relaxing break at Kuala Woh Forest Recreation Park where you can soak in the hot springs.
