Thanks to its beautiful landscapes, Azrou entertains both local and foreign travellers. The city is surrounded by superb green mountains which confer a particular charm to the town.

Besides its richness symbolised by the famous cedar plantations, visitors to Azrou can also see the "barbary" monkeys known as Magots. Azrou attracts hikers and local picnickers. Red-tiled roofs reflect a European style in the town.

The town of Azrou is a Moroccan municipality located in the province of Ifrane. The town is located at a strategic crossroads connecting the Middle Atlas and the High Atlas via  Midelt, passing by Timahdit and the plain of Tadla by Khénifra.

Azrou is located only 89 kilometres from Fès, in the Meknès-Tafilale region. The town is especially known to have sheltered the first Berber college of the area, the Berber College of Azrou, built by the French colonial authorities.

The college was one of the instruments of the application of the Berber dahir. The College became an educational establishment of reference in the area, from where a part of the political and military elites of 1956 to 1973 left.
