Arucas boasts some interesting historic buildings, mostly representing the architectural style of the 19th century.
Arucas is situated in the north of Gran Canaria with the Atlantic Ocean to the north, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to the west, Gáldar in the east, and Telde in the northwset. The city covers a surface area of 33.01 square kilometres and is separated from the capital by the ravine Barranco de Tenoya.
Attractions in Arucas
They include the huge neo-Gothic Parish Church of San Juan Bautista (also called the Cathedral of Arucas), the Constitution Square, the old Town Hall, the Municipal Market, the Municipal Garden called Jardin de Hespérides, Arucas Botanical Gardens, the Heredad de Aguas de Arucas y Firgas building, the Fábrica y Museo del Ron, and the Montaña de Arucas situated only 1.5 kilometres out of Arucas.
The most attractive fiesta celebrated in the region is the day of the patron saint San Juan Bautista held every 24th of June.
