Apsiou lies in the southern area of the Limassol Forest, only 17 kilometres away from Limassol, and 30 minutes drive from the beach. The name of the village derives from its ancient appellation Apaisos.  The village is known for its vines and wine-making, besides the cultivation of olives, carobs, almonds, and grains.

               
Apsiou is probably the ideal place for those seeking rest, tranquillity, and exploration of beautiful landscapes and sites. The combination of both, sea and mountains, gives the village a special and incomparable beauty. Aspiou is a good starting point for visiting the Troodos Mountains. As for historical monuments, the Church of the Virgin, built in 1740, and the well-known Monastery of Amirou are worth a visit. In the region, travellers will observe a great variety of rocks that gives the area unique geological structure.

Apsiou used to belong to the area of the Grand Commandery, the headquarters of the Crusaders in the 12th century.
