Thanks to its pleasant sunny climate, scenic landscapes, crystalline waters, and particular geology and fauna, Alajero is well worth a visit while in La Gomera. The village is the perfect destination for nature lovers and people seeking a peaceful rural holiday.
Alajero is a municipality on the island of La Gomera in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, located on the south coast, southeast of the capital San Sebastián de la Gomera and only 9 kilometres from the sea at Playa de Santiago. The Santiago ravine forms the boundary of San Sebastian, dividing Playa Santiago in two administrative districts, Lomada de Tecina and Laguna de Santiago.
The valleys and Atlantic coastal strip are used for arable farming, with mountains and hills in the north covered by forest and scrub/grassland used for grazing sheep and goats. Historically, the area of Alajero was in areas known as Hipalán and Orone.
